Vector -
Our Unique Process

What is the Vector Process?

At Vertex Architecture, we believe the traditional process for undertaking a construction project is unnecessarily complex and time-consuming. The increasing levels of technical detail, administration, and management required can make the process stressful and frustrating. Designing and building any type of project, especially a home, should be enjoyable, as it is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many people.

Our goal is to streamline the process, ensuring it is both smooth and hassle-free for our clients. That’s why we developed our own approach: the Vector Process. Established in 2018, Vertex Architecture has consistently refined this process to ensure it meets our clients’ needs effectively. All our projects, regardless of size, have followed this tried and tested process, which simplifies the typical eight-step process into four clear stages. This allows clients to easily track their project, understand associated costs, and see the steps involved.

Our mission is “Architecture Simplified,” and the Vector Process is a key tool in achieving this. It provides simplicity, clarity, and transparency, making the project less demanding, less time-consuming, and more engaging. Each of the four stages represents a key milestone in the project, from initial planning to the completion of construction. Below outlines our four stages, and what to expect from each.

Stage 1

Survey & Existing Drawings

The first stage is all about gathering the necessary information. This includes conducting architectural surveys of existing buildings and structures, topographical surveys of the site, and other technical surveys such as contamination, ecology, and trees.

This stage sets the parameters for the project and identifies any constraints.

Stage 2

Proposed Drawings & Planning

The second stage is where the creative process begins. Vertex and the client brainstorm ideas and develop concept designs. These are then developed into more detailed drawings and documents for planning submission, if required. We work with specialist consultants to prepare the necessary reports, statements, and documents. We also create Computer Generated Images (CGI) and Virtual Reality (VR) representations of the proposal if required, bringing the project to life.

If planning consent is needed, we handle the submission and monitor the planning process, keeping the client updated throughout.

Stage 3

Building Regulations & Construction Drawings

In the third stage, the designs are transformed into building regulation and technical drawings. This includes preparing detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation needed for contractor quotations and the construction phase. We ensure all specifications are included, so contractors can accurately price the work.

These documents are also submitted to Building Control for approval, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

Stage 4

Project Management & Contract Administration

The final stage focuses on assisting clients in getting the build started and successfully completed. We conduct a Tender Analysis, comparing quotations from contractors to ensure they meet project requirements. We advise clients on the best-suited contractor to facilitate the start of the works. We can manage the project through to completion, liaising with the client and contractor to ensure clear communication and avoid delays.

Our regular site visits, contractor meetings, cost checks, and weekly reports ensure a smooth and enjoyable construction process. By following the Vector Process, clients can be confident that their project is in safe hands. Our approach ensures clarity, efficiency, and a positive overall experience from start to finish.
