Project: The Old Coach House
Sat within the grounds of large country home built in the 1890’s is The Old Coach House – a converted coach house and stable building in the centre of Snettisham. Originally built using locally sourced carrstone, red brick and slate tiles, the property is accessed via a long driveway which cuts through the mature trees. This project demonstrates how a traditional building can be extended, modernised and transformed, creating a generous family home which has retained the existing character features.
The brief from the client was to utilise the existing structures. New floors were installed to create a generous vaulted first floor space, and existing openings were retained, giving that variety in window styles and sizes. The coach house and stable was linked by way of a two-storey larch-clad extension, with a further single storey extension which infills an existing corner. Brick feature walls and new polished concrete floor, which runs throughout the ground floor, remind you of this property’s history, and its new lease of life. Boasting 2,500 square feet and 5 bedrooms, the existing structures have been transformed and retained creating this fantastic family home.
